Getting to Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai, located in northern Thailand, is easily accessible by air, train, and bus.

By Air

Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) serves both domestic and international flights, with direct connections from major cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur. The airport is conveniently located just 15 minutes from Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel, the conference venue.

By Train

The State Railway of Thailand operates overnight and daytime trains from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The journey takes approximately 11-14 hours, offering a scenic ride through Thailand’s countryside. The Chiang Mai Railway Station is around 10 minutes from the hotel by taxi or ride-hailing service.

By Bus

Long-distance buses from Bangkok and other cities arrive at Chiang Mai Bus Terminal (Arcade Bus Station). The journey from Bangkok takes around 9-10 hours. The terminal is 15 minutes from the venue by taxi or Grab.

Taxis & Ride-Hailing

• Grab (similar to Uber) is widely available for easy city travel.
• Airport and hotel taxis provide fixed fares.

Red Songthaews (Rod Daeng)

• Shared red pickup trucks operating as public transport.
• Fares range from THB 30-50 per person, depending on the distance.

Tuk-Tuks

• A fun and quick way to get around short distances.
• Prices vary but should be negotiated beforehand (typically THB 60-150 per ride).

Motorbike & Bicycle Rentals

• Motorbikes can be rented for THB 150-300 per day (a license may be required).
• Bicycles are a great way to explore the Old City and nearby attractions.

Walking

• The Old City and Nimmanhaemin area are pedestrian-friendly.
• Many cafes, temples, and markets are within walking distance.
